The Tuskegee Experiment a U.S. ground forces course of instruction to train African the Statesns to fly and maintain combat aircraft. Everyone snarly in the Tuskegee Experiment would later be termed as Tuskegee Airmen. The Tuskegee Airmen were not just the pilots that flew planes there were withal navigators, bombardiers, maintenance and support staff, instructors and both the personnel that kept the planes in the air. The Tuskegee Airmen was a squadron of all African Americans that paved the way for full integration of the U.S. armament.
Before 1940 the U.S. military did not allow African Americans to fly aircraft, but because of hug brought on by civil rights organizations and the black press the institution of an all African American squadron was possible in 1941. The Army chose the Tuskegee Institute because it had the facilities, technical and engineering instructors, along with great wear for year round flying. The facility actual started as a civilian Pilot training Program with the first folk finishing training in May of 1940. The first sectionalisation of 13 cadets began training on July 19th, 1941. With the last class graduating on June 29th, 1946 the total number of 992 African Americans pilots graduated from Tuskegee.
