The variables measured are as follows: weekly oftenness of commuting, method of transportation used in commuting, percentage of time respondent is the driver if van syndicate is the transportation method, gas miles-per-gallon of the respondent's car, estimated monthly toll of commuting, the percentage of cost savings required to benefit a respondent guess riding the bus, and the percentage of cost savings required to make a respondent consider using the van pool.

The entropy presented in the table indicate that the site of responses was very abundant for five of the seven variables measured by the survey. Because of the large range of responses for these variables, it would be difficult to derive any meaning from the measurements unless the frequency distributions show large concentrations for some of the value categories in the variables.
