The Power of credulity A superstition is the belief or practice resulting from ignorance, fear of the unknown, trust in magic or chance, or a false conception of causation. Superstition is also an irrational abject attitude of mind toward the supernatural, nature, or idol or a notion maintained despite evidence to the opposite word (Merriam-Webster). Basic superstitions can be broken down into three broad categories Predictive, Causative and Conversion. Predictive superstitions are when people believe that a particular superstition will call up an oncoming event. Causative superstitions are based on someone very doing something to make something bad happen.
