One Night the Moon

The first is a pair of sound-image vignettes that juxtapose the grief and melancholy of a mother and stupefy as they deal with the sledding of their only daughter.  In one, the father (Jim Ryan) searches desperately for some sign on of his missing daughter.  Disoriented by the immensity of the rocky landscape, he stumbles, collapses and cries uncontrollably on the hillside.  Filmed with a shaky remove hold camera and set to a musical crescendo that clangs violently along to the cameras spasmodic movements, this scene physically evokes disorientation and hopelessness.
Rose and Albert (the Aboriginal tracker) walk back towards their folk carrying the childs corpse. Jim enthusiastically emerges from the house.  He runs out and jumps everyplace the fence, before pausing suddenly to assess the situation. Albert and Roses disconsolate faces as Albert willingly hands over Emily.  The father looks piling at his daughters dead body fabrication in his arms before the shot cuts to a close-up of the crying streaming down his face.  This evocative moment captures the depth and sorrowfulness of these characters and their failure to move beyond cultural difference and drag in one another, before they are forced to by tragedy.

The last moment and perhaps my favourite is Ruby hunting watchs closing song.  This song is sung right at the end of the film as a public applause for Emily and her father.  Rubys voice is the first thing to be heard, resonating long before visuals are introduced.  Her deep guttural consonant voice rings out across the dry landscape, overlaying close-ups of the father and daughters coffins being lowered into the ground...If you want to get a full essay, order it on our website: Ordercustompaper.com
