His journey began as an up and rising member of the Irish republican Brotherhood (IRB). By 1919, a 29 year grey-haired collins had already been elected a member of parliament, selected electric chair of the IRB, and named Minister of Finance for the Republic of Ireland. Later Collins was move to London as part of an Irish delegation to talk over what would become the Anglo-Irish Treaty. Marking the end of Irelands war for independence, Collins influence helped create the Irish Free State. However this accord was not favoured by all and Collins was forced to multitude with a conflict that he hoped to avoid. The ensuing conflict cancelled into the Irish Civil war. The actions taken and decisions made by Collins during this civil war had lasting effects.
