The purpose of the presented article was to test the effects of amicable class and dead body image on ego-esteem. The research conducted by Caposella (2008) asked the question, Do the images people are exposed to on a daily basis from magazine ads to billboards affect womens self esteem? It was hypothesized that participants would rate a decline self-esteem when presented with images of the paragon simulation type women. It was as well hypothesized that the participants would rate a lower self-esteem when presented with images of women in a higher social class.
Caposella prototypal started by gathering the subjects to her study. The participants selected were a convenience sample of students from a university. There was a total of forty females, all everywhere the age of 18. Next the materials were gathered in order to polish off the experiment. Materials included a laptop, Microsoft Office Powerpoint, semivowel shows provided, questionnaire, and writing musical instrument provided for the participant. There was a total a four slide shows that were shown to the participants, each of them containing ten images.
Each slide show demo four different classes and body types: ideal exercise body type of women in higher social class, clean body type in higher social class, ideal model body type in lower social class, and average body type in lower class. All the images were retrieved from the internet, www.google.com to be exact. The images were also altered using Photoshop in order to pop off the illusion of a certain body type, ideal model or average. The questionnaire asked participants to give the job title of the women shown as well(p) as answer questions about themselves, the questions rated their self-esteem using the Rosenberg self-assertion Scale.
