El hombre en la calle y la mujer en la casa my grandfather always says; which means men in the street and women in the house. Ever since I could remember I deem noticed that most of Mexican men ar very macho, they want to feel that they are superior to women, very masculine. My grandfather is a very macho when it comes down to his family. When my aunty was twelve years old, she was not allowed to go to school, because of P.E, my grandfather said that all she was going to go do was show her legs to the boys. My grandfather was very in the wrong because my aunt wanted to go to school she had an opportunity to do so, simply he took it away from her. My grandfather would not let my aunts withstand skirts or short dresses. And if they did have on a dress, it had to hit the nerve center of their shins, or even down to their ankles. Skirts were out of the picture, even to this daytime I am not allowed to wear skirts because, a kin young chick an not show her legs at all. And if they did wear a dress, they were not allowed to cross their legs, but they did have to ride very decently with their ankles crossed and to the side. I dont think that this is wrong, because I see girls with skirts so short, you see things that should be keep concealed.



When the family gathers for special occasions, girls to this day are not allowed to mock up with the men, even thought we are cousins; let alone have an alcoholic beverage, even though you are well over the age of twenty one. It is not looked upon because, it is not lady like only a women with no morals, principal that are no well spoken of drinks. I was taught to be a lady; to me lady like is when you have been brought up with very let globeners; someone who is refined, polite, and well-spoken; gracious, elegant, distinguished; well-bred and cultured.
