The Greek divinitys were very fascinating .There was a god for al some everything; there was a god of beauty, a god of the ocean, a god of rain, and even a god of wine! But Hermes was almost like the GPS of either the gods. Hermes delivers everything; from souls to the underworld, to messages and orders, if you involve something delivered Hermes is your god. Hermes also had an interesting role in the Odyssey. He was move to free Odysseus from a goodnesss imprisonment, and he helped him extend Circes powers.
Hermess overall goal in Greeks culture is to deliver messages and objects to the other gods (HERMES).To fly most to deliver messages, Hermes wore winged sandals t wear were believed to have magical powers. Hermes was also cognize to wear his wide brimmed hat with wings on them. With hat he also carries a staff with two snakes which is cognise as his caduceus. So Hermes will fly around delivering messages from gods to gods, and with-out Him none of the gods would ever get each others messages; so Hermes was a very important god.
Hermess role in the Odyssey was to deliver curtain items to Odysseus.
Hermes was also sent by genus Zeus to deliver a message to Calypso telling her that she mustiness let Odysseus go, and she cannot hold him captive anymore(Character List). Without Hermes contend his role in the Odyssey, Odysseus would not have made it half(a) way through his journey. Hermes brought Odysseus antidotes and freed him from being imprisoned by Calypso. So without Hermes Odysseus would still be on Calypsos island, or even dead because he had not received the antidotes.
nevertheless though Hermes part seems so small, it played a real part in the Odyssey and in the world of the goddesses. Just because all Hermes does is deliver messages and objects, it does not mean he is not important. It makes us realize how important the people are in our society.
