Sikhs use Different color of turbans used, whitethorn reflect association with a particular group of Sikhs.
Basically it is a story of a Sikh boy, who is scared of his religious implications. Wearing a turban and having large creature of hair, he feels himself a misfit, uncomfortable, ashamed of his body, un-adjusted in the society.
The character in the story, Arjun, feels breathes when he lifts his turban. He remembers his fathers saying, that A turban is a passport, passport is a book.

Conclusion is everybody, may not feel comfortable, with the religious implications.
